AYA House is situated on a long but narrow, 10″ x 100″ corner lot in Queens, New York. We designed one very long and one very short façade to accommodate the infrastructural irregularity of the lot.
The entire façade is insulated and clad with a spray-on black rubber, which creates a continuous aesthetic and functions as a performative barrier that protects the house from the elements, all while remaining as thin as possible. In tandem with this exterior treatment, an array of three window sizes responds to interior conditions. The design incorporates access to a garage below, and creates a private, screened-in exterior green space in the rear of the structure.
