Four generations of family reside in TBD House, a corner-lot residence in Queens. After a devastating fire destroyed the entire structure and contents of the building (but fortunately yielded no injuries), we rebuilt the home to optimize lighting and space for the family, while adding a new egress in the process.
We implemented custom corner windows to emphasize the building’s unique condition of having three exposures, and maximized space by elevating the second-floor kitchen over the stairwell, which is expressed in the stairwell window. The entire structure is clad in cement board, offering a modernized and spacious shelter for its tenants to feel at home, safe and protected.
